The cost of a typo is measured in demurrage.
Small export teams run on Word templates because the alternative, tools like CargoWise and Descartes, starts north of $1,000 a month and assumes a freight-forwarding department. So the re-typing continues, and so do the errors.
Four documents, one set of facts, typed four times.
The consignee address, product description, HS code, and declared value appear on every document. Re-typing them into Word templates means four chances to get each one wrong.
One mismatch can hold a container for days.
A weight that disagrees between the packing list and the bill of lading, or a value that differs between invoice and certificate, invites a customs query. Days of delay, then demurrage, storage, and re-filing fees that run from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
Nobody knows what's been sent.
When documents live in email attachments and a Documents folder, the question "did the certificate of origin go to the broker?" takes a search, a guess, and a follow-up call to answer.
How it works
One record in. Four documents out.
- 1
Enter the shipment once.
Shipper, consignee, products, quantities, weights, values, incoterm. One form, one record. The built-in HS lookup fills in the harmonized code while you type the product description.
- 2
Generate all four documents.
Commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and bill of lading come out of the same record. Every field matches on every page because it was entered exactly once.
- 3
Track each document to cleared.
Mark documents as sent when they go to the broker or bank, and cleared when customs signs off. One glance tells you what's still holding up the shipment.
Features
Built for the exporter who is also the documentation department.
One shipment record, four documents
Auto-filled and consistent by construction. The invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and bill of lading all read from the same record, so the numbers can't drift apart between documents. No re-typing, no copy-paste, no transposed digits.
HS code lookup built in
Search by plain product description ("frozen shrimp", "oak flooring") and get the 6-digit harmonized code candidates right in the shipment form. No more flipping between your template and a tariff schedule PDF.
Document status tracking
Every document carries a status: draft, sent, or cleared. The shipment view shows all four at a glance, so you know what's with the broker, what's at the bank, and what's already through customs.
Pricing
A fraction of one avoided demurrage bill.
Enterprise tools start at $1,000 a month. Word templates are free until the first error. ExportDocsHub sits where small exporters actually live.

Frequently asked
What documents do you generate?+
Four: commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and bill of lading. All four are generated from the same shipment record, so the consignee address, HS codes, weights, and values match across every page. If you need a document we don't cover yet, email us and we'll tell you honestly whether it's coming.
Do I need software to make export documents?+
Strictly speaking, no. Plenty of exporters run on Word templates. The problem is re-typing: every document repeats the same shipper, consignee, product, and value fields, and one transposed digit can hold a container at port for days. Software earns its keep by entering data once and keeping every copy consistent.
What is an HS code and do you provide it?+
The Harmonized System code is the international 6-digit classification customs uses to identify your product and set duty rates. ExportDocsHub has an HS lookup built in: search by plain product description and get candidate 6-digit codes. Final classification is your responsibility (or your broker's), but you won't be digging through PDF tariff schedules.
Can I use my own letterhead?+
On the Growth plan, yes. Custom document branding lets you put your logo and company details on every generated document. Starter documents use a clean standard layout with your company information filled in.
Is my data safe?+
Your shipment data is yours. We don't sell it, share it with other customers, or use it for anything beyond running the product for you. The product is currently in pilot; production hosting is planned on DigitalOcean with a Neon Postgres database. Full details are in our privacy policy.
What happens after the trial?+
After 14 days you pick a plan (Starter at $79/mo or Growth at $149/mo) or walk away. We don't take a credit card up front, so there is nothing to cancel and no surprise charge. Your data stays exportable either way.
